Is the news bad for you? Based on a listener question and an article which appeared in the Manchester Guardian, President Thomas Jefferson speaks about news coverage during his time and ours. On January 16, 1787 Jefferson wrote to Edward Carrington, "Were it left to me to decide whether we should have a government without newspapers, or newspapers without a government, I should not hesitate a moment to prefer the latter." He also wrote, "The man who reads nothing at all is better educated than the man who reads nothing but newspapers."
